Mangaluru : Writer K.S. Bhagwan and K.S. Shivaramu, State president of the Karnataka Rajya Hindulida Vargagala Jagrutha Vedike, have urged the government to arrest Gopalakrishna Gowda, the prime accused in a recent attack on Sundara Malekudiya belonging to a Scheduled Tribe community at Kattaje, a village in Belthangady taluk, recently.
Addressing a press conference here, they took exception to the incident and criticised the government for not arresting Gopalakrishna Gowda so far. Describing the incident as a warning bell to the government, they said, it should provide proper protection to tribal people.
Referring to Hindu Gods he said ‘There is suppression of women and backward classes in Ramayana and Mahabaratha. Even Hindu Gods Rama and Krishna are sinners. If Ramayana states that Rama had killed a shudra named Shambuka and had also abandoned his wife Sita, Krishna who had married 16000 women is also a sinner.” He further stated the only true book is the Constitution of India.
He also blamed Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt for maintaining silence on the Sunder Malekudiya case. He further urged the government to provide a compensation of Rs 20 lakhs to Sunder Malekudiya.
Mr. Shivaramu said, the Siddaramaiah-led government was claiming itself as the saviour of the AHINDA class. But, it had failed to protect Mr. Sundara and many other tribals like him, miserably. He criticised the Hindu organisations for not standing by Mr. Sundara.
Mr. Shivaramu demanded that Mr. Siddaramaiah appoint a special representative for Dakshina Kannada to keep such atrocities in check.
Hindu activists who arrived at the press meet venue had a flash protest against Bhagwan. The activists even raised slogans against Prof Bhagavan and nine of them were arrested by the Barke Police.
