Mangaluru : Police have arrested six persons on the charges of trying to harm policemen on patrol duty by running their bike and car over them in Janadhikara convention at Adyar Kannur grounds.

The incident had taken place after people who had participated in the SDPI Janadhikara convention at last Friday were returning. A complaint was lodged at the Kankanady police station against a few for abusing the cops and trying to obstruct their duty.

City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said two persons who were directly involved in the incident and four others who sheltered them have been arrested. A total of nine persons were wanted in this case and efforts are on to arrest the remaining, he added.

One of the accused named Naushad was arrested from Bengaluru while another accused Hyderali was arrested from Mysuru.
