Bantwal : Former union minister B Janardhan Poojari visited the residence of Sowmya of Baltila village who was brutally killed after a molestation bid recently. Poojari who consoled the family members of Sowmya handed over Rs 1.10 lakhs to Sowmya’s father Seetharam Serigara.  The amount which was raised from party workers in Mangalore also includes Rs 10,000 which is Poojari’s personal contribution.

Condemning the brutal act claiming the life of a young girl, Poojari said the incident has made everyone hang their heads in shame. He also stated that there should be an awakening in the society on the need to  respect women.

Several Congress leaders including Abbas Ali, Ashwani Kumar Rai, Harikrishna Bantwal, Chandraprakash Shetty and others were present.
