Mangalore : Sri Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli in Mangalore, saw some interesting programmes today on the first day of the New Year. Senior Congress leader and the architect of the renovation of the Kudroli Temple, offered pada pooja to 76 year old widow belonging to backward class and retired teacher Anasuya Kumari and offered her a jasmine garland, saree and fruits. The Temple chariot was also pulled by devotees on the occasion, Poojari also offered Urulu Seve along with eight others at the temple. He said Urulu Seve was an answer to Made Snana and those who want to offer Made Snana instead of rolling over left over food should roll over clean floor of the temple.
He said by honouring Anasuya Kumari, a teacher has proved that a teacher was equal to God to him.
Chandika Yaga was also offered at the temple. Speaking later, Poojari said pooja were also offered for the souls of the Delhi brave heart Damini and Sowjanya of Dharmasthala who fell victim to the brutal assault and rape.
Rice was also distributed to several women on the occasion.
