Bangalore : The former Minister G. Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday withdrew his petition from the Karnataka High Court in which he had sought bail in the criminal case registered against him in connection with illegal transport of iron from the Belekeri port, near Karwar.
Following this, Justice Budihal R.B. dismissed the petition as being “withdrawn.”
Mr. Reddy had filed the plea for release on bail last year and the Central Bureau of Investigation had opposed grant of bail for many reasons, including that it his release would impact the witnesses, many of whom were working as his employees.
When the petition came up for further hearing on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy’s counsel submitted a memo for withdrawing the petition. The CBI probed the case following a direction from the Supreme Court.
