Mangalore: Sri Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is being celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety all over the district. Various temples will be offering special prayers , poojas and rituals to Lord Krishna on this auspicious day. A variety of contests including Muddu Krishna contests are also slated to be held under the aegis of various organizations.
In Udupi, various programmes have been chalked out for the Janmashtami celebrations at Sri Krishna Mutt.
The Sri Krishna Mutt has been beautifully adorned with floral decoration and there would be bhajans throughout the day. Huge quantity of laddoos and chakkulis have also been kept ready to be distributed among devotees.
A Laksha Tulasi Archana will be offered to Paryaya seer Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji today night and this will be followed by a special pooja. Later Argyapradana will be offered to Lord Krishna at midnight.
On Sunday, the famous Vittal Pindi will be celebrated wherein there will be a special Huli Vesha contest apart from various other competitions in the evening.
