Sullia : A common peoples March( Jatha) led by Swami Kabirananda of Gulbarga and CPIM secretary Vasant Achary left Sullia for Mangalore on Nov.21 as a token of public protest over the murder case of not only Sowjanya, a college student but also 472 cases of atrocities against young women from Belthangady taluk in around Dharmasthala in the 30 years to be investigated by CBI as demanded by the families of missing persons in recent years.
Before the Jatha started on its walk, leader Kabirananda stated that it was only when Sowjanya was murder and the finger suspicion pointed to the family members of Dr. Heggade, that all hell broke loose and sufferers from other families in the 30 years also demanded that those cases been investigated by CBI. Therefore the Jatha has been taking a lead in people’s protests and seeking justice for all the families of over 450 missing persons in rape and murder cases in Belthangady taluk alone.
We would not rest Swami Kabirananda rorad until justices totally done to all the suffering families which were neither helped by the police nor taking care by the govt. All these years. The Jatha, he added, would created sallen social consciousness among the common people of DK District to put the culprits in jail for the colossal harm done to the society in around a holy place like Dharmasthala.
The Jatha will end up in Mangalore with mass rally of thousands of hurt people, he concluded.
The CPI (M) leader Vasanth Achary told the crowds gathered at the march that his Party has been always forefront of the straggle for the rights of living of all common people.
The Jatha will create a new consciousness against the wrong doings of a leading family of well known persons against a whole female entity of college students and their communities.
It will never be the same again when the truth comes out and all the social criminals are found out in a group and duly punished according to the low of land, he asserted.
The Jatha has since left Sullia onway to Mangalore.
Party leaders KR Sriyan, Sunil Kumar Bajal also spoke. Several leaders including DYFI District Secretary Dayanand Shetty, Janavadi Sanghatane’s District President Padmavathi Shetty, SFI District President Nitin, CPI(M) leaders Krishnappa Salian, Richard Crasta and others were present at the meeting
