Udupi: Former Lok Sabha MP Jayaprakash Hegde is in constant touch with BJP leaders and he will join BJP shortly, said sources.
He had joined Congress 2008 and elected as MP from Udupi – Chikkamagaluru constituency. Before that he was on JDS and that time also he was elected as MP from the same constituency. During his tenure as MP from Congress he united Congress party in the constituency.
After the 2013 assembly elections the scenario changed and JP Hegde’s followers alleged that top brass of Congress in the district haven’t supported hedge, thus resulting in defeat of J P Hegde.
Jayaprakash had also rejected the MLC election ticket last year and competed as an independent candidate. He was expelled from all sort Congress party affairs for this.
But as J P Hegde has the charm of winning the seat for any party. Till now he has won the elections mostly by his own charm. Now there are rumours spread like J P Hegde is all set to join BJP and leaders of BJP who visited Udupi gave a statement in this tone only.
Jayaprakash Hegde has said that he will discuss with his followers and soon he will reveal his decision. It is necessary to join one party to serve the people.
