Udupi: In a tragic accident JDS leader Nischal Shetty on Tuesday night, after a truck collided with the bike he was riding on.

The 36-year-old was along with his friend, Mohan Kalmadi, who escaped with injuries. The accident took place at Kaup.

Kalmadi, who sustained severe injuries in the accident, is being treated at a hospital in Manipal.

Nischal Shetty was the district president of JD(S) youth wing. He had married last year. He is survived by wife and mother. His father, the late Gunakar Shetty, was a former president of Innanje gram panchayat.
