Mangalore : SL Bhoje Gowda and Panchaksharappa JD(S) candidates from South West Graduates’ Constituency and Teachers’ Constituency respectively of the Legislative Council, have hit out at the BJP candidates contesting the polls and accused them of making false claims.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on May 16, Wednesday, SL Bhoje Gowda who is also a member of the Bar Council took exception to the date fixed for the legislative council polls. He said the fixed date June 15 was highly unsuitable as even the Civil Services Exams are being held the same day and would be attended by over a thousand lecturers.
He also threatened to move the court if the date of the election was not changed. Continuing, he said the number of graduates who have registered in the graduates constituency was very less and even pointed out that the names of over 3000 graduates who have voted in three earlier elections have been deleted.
He further questioned why Ganesh Karnik was going to each and every institution seeking votes if he was sure of getting the votes as per their claims of creating 65000 jobs in the state.
Another candidate Panchakharappa also spoke on the occasion. JD(S) leaders including former MLA Amarnath Shetty, DM Aslam, , Vasanth Poojary, Mohammed Kunhi Vittla and M G Hegde were present.
