Mangaluru : Celebrate this Christmas with the poor and help them for food, shelter and money. Jesus Christ lived for everyone by advising love, peace, and humanity, said Aloysius Paul D’Souza Bishop of Mangaluru.
Delivering his message at a Christmas celebration function organised by Catholic Sabha Mangaluru at the Bishop House, he said that peace meant not only refraining from violence but to respond to the difficulties of others.
He said that the diocese would hand over 24 houses for the poor next week.
Referring to frequent religion-based violence incidents being reported in Dakshina Kannada, Johara Abbas, principal, Al-Badriya Educational Institutions, Katipalla, said that some people had failed to realise what humanity meant.
She alleged that seeds of hatred were being sown in the minds of children to fester when they became adults.
Mahabala Maarla, mayor of Managalore City Corporation , Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, president of SCDCC spoke on the occation.
The programme was inaugurated by cutting the Christmas cake, by Dr Aloysius Paul D’souza-Bishop of Mangaluru, along with other dignitaries. The programme began with a welcome dance, Convener- Sushil Noronha welcomed dignitaries.
MP Noronha, advocate, Msgr Denis Prabhu, Vicar General, Flavy D’Souza, Catholic Sabha President and others were present.
