Jewellery worth in lakhs stolen from house at Melkar

Jewellery worthBantwal: Theft of jewellery worth in lakhs has been reported from Bogodi near Melkar on Friday early morning.

Thieves have decamped with 24 sovereign of gold and Rs 14000 cash from Aboobakkar’s house.
A ladder was kept to the terrace of the house as the tiles work of the terrace was going on. Workers didn’t take the ladder with them after finishing the work and left the work place. The door wasn’t locked properly by the family members of Aboobakkar.

Thieves used this opportunity and climbed the terrace went to the master bedroom without any difficulty. Later they went back from the same way from where they had entered.

The cupboard was also not locked properly and the family members were sleeping in some other room on Thursday night. This worked like a boon to the thieves.

The incident came to light when family members saw the wallet and other things falling on the floor and when they checked the cupboard valuables were stolen.

Bantwal town police have visited the spot along with canine squad and forensic experts.
A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station.
