Mangalore : Kulashekar Holy Cross church witnessed another milestone in the promotion of konakni language in the religious field. Konkani language grew with the help of missionaries. Today we are facing lot of challenges to promote and stabilize local languages because of the challenges faced from the wide spread English language. To teach the younger generation th taste of konkani and take this language to the next generation Holy Cross Church published two books. The book ‘Jezu Songim Mageam’ a family prayer book was published using both Kannada and Roman script. This regular daily prayers recited both in church and homes would be very handy to those people who do not know Kannada script.
The programme held at Kulashekar Holy Cross church on Sunday 24 August.
The book ‘Jezu Songim Mageam’ was released by Mr. Edward D’souza chairman of Federation of Konkani Catholic Association Bangalore. Another book ‘Novena of Holy Cross’ was released by Mr Praveen Patrao vice president of Parish pastoral council.
The books were presented for inauguration by Mr Sushil Noronha formar vice president and Mr Richard Alvares who did the transliteration work. The program was presided over by Rev Fr Valerian Pinto parish priest of Cordel. Mr Arun Fernandes secretary of federation of konkani Catholic Association Bangalore, Parish Pastoral Parishad secretary, Mr Michael D’Souza, Fr Anil Lobo were present for the inauguration.
