Mumbai : Senior NCP leader and Maharashtra Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad has tested positive for coronavirus. Awhad, along with a dozen of his family members, had been in home quarantine since the past 10 days. The decision of home quarantine was taken after one of his security personnel had tested positive for the deadly virus. Jitendra Awhad is the first Maharashtra minister to test positive for the virus.
Earlier, the minister had tested negative, but a subsequent report on Thursday turned out positive. Awhad was admitted to the Fortis hospital in Mulund on Tuesday night after he complained of fever and uneasiness. The minister was initially admitted to a Thane hospital but was later shifted to Fortis hospital.
