Mangalore: An exhibition of Cartoons, caricatures and funny faces made by eminent cartoonist John Chandran, opened at local Prasad Art Gallery on M.G. Road on Mangalore today, Oct.21st at 11 a.m. Dr. H. Cabral, Principal of local Theological College, inaugurated the show. Rev. Melwyn Pinto, Headmaster of St. Aloysius’ High School, in Karangalpady presided over the event and released a book called “Namma Nimma Nimmi” (our prankster), with Manohar Prasad of Udayavani daily being present as the chief guest. The show of cartoons and caricatures by John Chandran, whose creations have adorned many a daily and several textbooks, will continue for few more days.
Chandran is well known for his funny faces and cartoons, although he is a graphic designer. He is a pucca Mangalorean, born here in 1973. He is an Art teacher in St. Aloysius’ High School since 1994.
He arranged many exhibitions and secured several awards in a distinguished artistic career. He has published some collections of his cartoons in recent years too, in a book form.
Cartoon lovers will certainly attend his shows in large numbers, from school to college. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, was present today at the show.
