Mangalore : The implementation of Karnataka Sand act 2011 dated April 1, 2011 has created the confusion in the sand contractors of Dakshina Kannada district and stopped the work, said Joint Action Committee president Mayur Ullal.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on April 5, Tuesday said that state government and district administration is directly responsible for this confusion.
The state government has taken the decision since some of the contractors are selling the sand for high price without having the permit.
He also said that the joint action committee in order to work according to the legal procedure has stopped the work from past 5 days and asked the government and district administration to solve the problem but still they have not responded he said.
The joint action committee has also met Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and discussed the matter but he said that the new rule is not for the Coastal region and the concession will be given. This move is welcomed by the committee he said.
He informed that the committee is just waiting for the order to start the sand work.
