Udupi : The Udupi district journalists celebrated Journalism Day at Hotel Kidiyoor on Thursday, with Rajashekhar Koti of Mysore (editor of Andolan, Kannada weekly) inaugurating the event.
Koti told fellow reporters that readers’ grievance need to be addressed by writers of news items. The journalists have to respond to nation – building socio – economic trends favourably. The new generation in free India has to consider social issues carefully , he said. Subrahmanya Padukone 9editor of Kannada Weekly Janaprathinidhi) of Kundapura was felicitated on the occasion for an award he won for writing about forest conservation.
Dr. P.V. Bhandary, a well known psychologist, spoke on stress management at work tables. Dinesh Kini presided on the occaon, as D.W.J. Association Chief. Secretary Kiran Manjanabail welcomed invitees. Balakrishna Shibarla compared the event. An exhibition of cartoons, picture and arts by Association members was highlight of the Journalists’ Day Celebreation.
