Mangalore : I R Perumal, Principal Secretary (Department of Youth Services), Government of Karnataka speaking at the press meet held at TMA Pai Convention Hall on Jan 16, Monday said that `Whole Mangalore has participated on all the four days in the National Youth Festival, making it livelier.

He also said that the police department has taken lot of efforts in controlling the traffic and maintaining law and order.

Speaking on the selection procession, he said that the authority and government has chosen Mangalore city for organizing National Youth Festival on the various aspects like ground, hotels, transport , flight facilities and others. The city has made it possible with all the hospitability to the participants of the NYF.

He also thanked the media for their support in publishing the events daily. While in return the media representatives thrashed him for not making proper arrangements for the media to cover the events and not giving information on the events, programme and timings. They said that the media people had to cover the events for three hours by kneeling down on the grounds. The chairs were also not arranged and made them to sit on the floor in some of the events held at TMA Pai Hall.

They also said that the authorities have not even organized a press meet after the event begun to give details, but called media to thank them and give the gifts comprising bags and bedspread to the media representatives.

The media people boycotted the press meet and rejected the gifts in front of DC Dr N S Channappa Gowda and ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash.
