Mangalore : The DK District Working Journalists Union has urged Home Minister KJ George to withdraw the cases registered against cameraman Sharan who was arrested in connection with the homestay attack case and pass a resolution in this regard in the cabinet. The memorandum was submitted to the minister on June 19, Wednesday.
Union President PB Harish Rai, General Secretary Srinivas Indaje, Vice Presidents Jagannath Shetty Bala, Venkatesh Bantwal, Press Club President Ramakrishna R, General Secretary Kiran Sirsikar and others were in the delegation.
The delegation thanked the minister for dropping charges against journalist Naveen Soorinje I the case. Now that even Sharan has been granted bail, cases against him too should be dropped as he had been to the homestay as part of his duty to cover the incident, the memorandum said.
