Mangaluru: On Tuesday, MLA J.R Lobo handed over a cheque of Rs 70,000 to the family of one Mr. Dayakar Bangera of Maroli, to renovate their house, which had collapsed due to rain recently.
Both the legs of Mr. Bangera has been amputated and his wife works for printing press.
Seeing the poor condition of the family, MLA, who had inspected the house four days ago, had taken the responsibility of arranging funds to reconstruct their house.
Hence, MLA handed over the cheque of Rs 70,000 to the family. He thanked the revenue department for acting swiftly and granting the money.
Besides, several locals too came forward to help the family. Few residents donated construction material to the family.
Vinay Mascarenhas, Santhosh and Vinod from Pumpwell, Abbas, a contractor, Protestants Association were among others who donated and supported the family.
