Udupi: An NGO run by Jayakrishna here, has decided to file a suit in state High Court against Udupi power Corporation Ltd (UPCL), which is unable to control atmospheric and land/water pollutions in around several Villages, putting local people to hardships in Nandikur and Ellur areas, where the power plants are located (2 units) NGO founder Tone JK shetty announced the fight in a press meet held on Wednesday morning.

The UPCL has started works 2 ago, and 2 coastal districts were getting its power supply.

The govt. had failed to curb the local people hardships, due to coal/fly ashes. Agitations by several responsible dignitaries and associations went awry. Several rounds of talk with politicians had come a cropper, with so positive results. Water resources were now salty and fields useless. Upon deciding at Mumbai to take legal action, advocate Madhavachar has been hired to go a head with legal proceeding against UPCL, the Ecology-friendly samithi chief told reporters on Feb.8.
