Udupi: Dr B M Hegde, district president of Jaya Srikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti and retired vice-chancellor of Manipal University said that it is important for a business man to have social concern apart from just making business in the society.
Speaking at the public meet organized in the auditorium of Hotel Kidiyoor on September 10, Saturday, in order to create Government awareness destruction caused to the society by the establishment of UPCL near Nandikoor.
Presenting the various demands on behalf of the committee, he said that the company must use quality technology for their work without causing harm to the local residents. He also urged them to form an environment protection committee involving local representatives too.
He warned the UPCL officials to hold intense protests if their demands are not met.
Thonse Jayakrishna Shetty, founder of the committee said that CM Sadananda Gowda and environment ministers must visit the place and ask the problems from the locals and also provide suitable solution to it.
Ramachandar Baikampady welcomed the gathering. Shekara Gujjarabettu compered the programme. K P Jagadeesha Adhikari, Divakar Shetty, Dananjay Shetty, Krishna Shetty among others were present.
