Mangalore : Father Muller Medical College organized a seminar on medicine, ethics and legal issues, at FMMC Decennial Memorial Conference Hall on Jan 27, Friday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Honourable Justice B.V. Pinto, Judge, Karnataka High Court said that Fr Mullers has grown in an enormous proportion.
Sharing his experience, Justice said that his first case in life was the labour case of Fr Mullers Hospital in January 1978, between staff and management and even after 35 years I am linked to the medical profession as a professor on medical ethics in many colleges.
He also said that, today at least 1 in 10 cases is pertaining to legal cases in court in relate to tampering of medical files by doctors, changing the names of injured patients and injuries on the body of patients is inadvertent or criminal cases.
Sometime during accident cases, the victims will not have chance to choose a doctor, in such cases doctors and nurse must not misuse the situation of the patient by taking their jewels and other valuables. The medical professional must stand by the side of patient, when they hand over their precious life to doctors with trust, he said.
Dr Derek Lobo introduced Justice B.V. Pinto. Later Justice was honoured on the occasion.
Patrick Rodrigues, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions presided over the event. Rev Fr Denis D’Sa, administrator of FMMC welcomed the guests and gathering.
