Bangalore: The single (third) Judge of Karnataka High Court, Justice V.G. Sabhahit, today upheld the order of Speaker K.G. Bopaiah of the state legislature, which disqualified 11 dissident MLAs in a group, for offending the government by “anti-party” activities early this month.
The verdict came as a big relief to the CM who had vowed only this week not to take back any of them in to BJP again or to accept their apologies.
The Speaker had also disqualified 5 other Ministers (Independent MLAs or rebels from other parties) in his midnight order before the Confidence vote was passed on Oct.14. CM had to prove his majority twice in the legislature on Oct 11, and again 2 days later (Oct.14).
