Mangalore : The book ”Bunts in History and Culture” authored by Dr B Surendra Rao, former history professor of Mangalore University was released at T V Raman Pai Convention Centre on November 7, Sunday.
The programme was organised by Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Research Centre, Udupi, in association with the World Bunts Foundation Trust.

Speaking after releasing the book on the occasion, Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde said that the contribution by the Bunts community is remarkable in the fields like politics, science, culture and education. I am proud to be from the Bunts community, he added.

Dr K Chinnappa Gowda, registrar, Mangalore University briefed on the book and said that the book is based on historical sources and is an attempt to reconstruct the history of Bunts of Dakshina Kannada.

Dr K V Ramesh, former joint director general of Archeological Survey of India was the guest of honour. Erya Laxminarayana Alva presided over the event.
Dr KR Shetty, project director, World Bunts’ Foundation, K Jairaj B Rai and Dr H Krishna Bhat were present on the dias.
