Mangalore : The Justice B. K. Somashekhara Commission of Inquiry, which has been constituted by the state government to probe the church attacks of 2008, examined three witnesses by the end of the day at Mangalore Circuit House on July 15.
The further enquiry will continue tomorrow that is on July 16, Friday in order to complete it by the end of this month, since its extended term expires on July 31.
The three witnesses completed in Mangalore are Asha Jagadish, Chandrashekar and Bhagawan Das, while the inquiry for the third person will be continued on July 16th morning.
The total petition pending for the enquiries from September 14, 2008 are 1019. While the commission completed examining 988 petitions till July 8, 2010.
The commission partially examined 31 witnesses which have been listed. Any extra time required by the commission to complete its inquiry will be assessed after the judicial sittings. Since the government had granted the commission the grace period of three more months to complete its inquiry and hence it must be completed within the month end.
The inquiry commission will also be conducted at Balabrooie Guesthouse in Bangalore on July 19 – 21.
According to Mr. Vidyashankar, secretary of commission, the commsion must complete 23 witnesses who will be examined during its sittings in Mangalore. The key witnesses, who are N. Sathish Kumar, the former superintendent of police in Dakshina Kannada; Dharmaiah, the former deputy superintendent of police; and Mahendra Kumar, leader of Bajrang Dal, will be examined in Bangalore
