Mangalore : Kannada daily Vijaya Karnataka’s Steven Rego,  bags the K. J. Shetty Kadandale Award, instituted jointly by Vijaya Kalavidaru Troupe and Yugapurusha Publications.

Mr. Rego was chosen for this award for his report titled Malligeya Katu Vasane, Tragedy Ooru Shankarapura, published in Vijaya Karnataka.

According to the judges, the report has enhanced public awareness on the bad effects of using pesticides.

This award conferred in memory of late K. J. Shetty Kadandale, the veteran journalist, comprises Rs. 15,000, a citation, and a trophy.

The award will be conferred on Oct 2 at an awards ceremony at Yugapurusha Auditorium, Kinnigoli.
