Mangalore:  Steven Rego a young journalist in Kannada, was the recipient of K.J.Shetty Kadandale (memorial) award, in a special awards programme organized by ‘Yuga Purusha’ periodical and Vijaya Kalavidaru at Kinnigoli on Sunday, in their own auditorium.

Harikrishna Punarooru presided over the function. In his remarks, Punarooru eulogised late Kadandale’s many-sided activities as a writer and ecologist and added that Rego had deserved the award given his memory.
Rego, a sub editor in Vijaya Karnataka, accepting the award humbly stated that such awards encouraged young reporters all though their thrilling careers.

L.N.Asranna of Kateel made the benedictory address. Fr.V.Mendonca of Sandesh Foundation conferred the award. Naresh K, read out the citation. Several journalists, local dignitaries, and Sharath Shetty of Vijaya Kalavidaru were present on the occasion.
