Kollur: Over 100 singers and painters/artists gave a big hand to celebrated Southern musician and playback singer K.J.Yesudas, on his 72nd birthday, observed in the holy and hoary temple of Mookambika in Kollur on Tuesday, January 9.
The programme was organised as usual for the last 12 years, by another noted musician, Kanhangad Ramachandran.
Special concerts and meetings were held at the temple courtyard all these years, to seek blessings of the kind Goddess of music and learning, who walk with Adi Sankaracharya to this lovely place on Western Ghats.
The legendary singer with a golden voice, rendered a few hymns at he Saraswathi Mandapam open grounds, near the temple, after he reached the premises at 7-30 AM(Sunrise-time). Special concerts were conducted in the evening from singers of Chennai and Bangalore.
Hundreds of devotees expressed their best wishes to ageing Yesudas. Chandika Homa and other rituals were performed during the day at the temple. 300 kids sat in the lap of Yesudas, for learning words.
