Udupi: K T Balakrishna, IPS officer of 2006 batch took charge as the new Superintendant of police of Udupi district, on Thursday.
ASP Vishnuvardhan was the in-charge SP of Udupi after the transfer of SP ANnamalai.
After accepting the guard of honour he spoke o various things which are considered as the challenge for him. Speaking to the media personnel he said that the information gathered in Bhaskar Shetty murder case is through the media reports. Discussions will be held with concerned officer and investigating officer to plan the next course of action.
“Increasing the manpower and strengthening the department will be my first priority. Winning the confidence of public is the second one. One more thing which I wish to add in the list top priorities is protecting property, peace, harmony and law and order,” he said.
Further commenting on the Bhaskar Shetty murder he said that people can have full faith on the department. The case wil be investigated thoroughly and justice will be delivered to the victims.
Speaking about Naxals in the district he said that talks will be hold with ASP and will take appropriate decision with regard to this matter.
“There is no excuse for anyone for not doing their duty efficiently. There is a shortage of staffs in the department, filling the vacant places is a long term process. But this cannot be considered as a excuse for not doing the duty,” he stated.
Previously Balakrishna served as SP of Gadag, and before that he served in many positions under the home department like deputy commandant general of HG, ex-officio deputy director of civil defence and more.
