Mangaluru : Kaavi Kale, a traditional art form of the Saraswats of Goa and coastal Karnataka, is up for exhibition in Mangaluru from January 8 to January 12.
Kaavi Kale artist Veena Srinivas, a resident of Mangaluru, is putting up the exhibition at Prasad Art Gallery, Ballal Bagh, the inauguration of which would be held at 4.30 pm on January 8.
Ms. Srinivas said that a few specimens of Kaavi Kale, a unique form of painting once popular in the coastal areas, could still be seen in parts of Goa.
The art form features a combination of epics, legend and culture along with floral designs in reddish-brown murals.
The artist said she has also done an in-depth study of the art form and conducted workshops to provide hands-on experience to youngsters. She has taken up themes from Ramayana, Mahabharatha and other epics as subjects of Kaavi Kale.
The exhibition would be open for public from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. between January 9 and January 12.
