Mangaluru: To promote the Indian game Kabaddi, a Mangaluru zonal Kabaddi tournament has been organised by Mangaluru University in association with Besant evening college at Urwa Market. It is a three days tournament and it started on Monday October 17 and will go on till October 19.

Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the tournament along with other dignitaries.

As many as 38 colleges have enrolled their names for the tournament from Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district. For the Udupi zonal colleges the tournament has been organised at Poornaprajna College ground.

Finals of both districts tournaments will be held on October 18 and on October 19 the four top teams from Mangaluru zone and Udupi zone will compete for the ‘Sri Dharmasthala Rathnavarma Heggade’ trophy at Urwa Market ground.

Besant Evening College Correspondent Narayan Shenoy, Principal Dr lakshminaratana Bhat, Jagadeesh Shenoy, Pradeep Kumar and others were present during inaugural function.
