Mangalore :  Mamatha Poojari hailing from Hermunde in Karkala taluk, who earned India’s its first World Cup in Kabaddi as captain of Indian team,  will tie the knot to software engineer Abhishek Kotian on January 23 at Udupi.

The two were engaged  on October 9 last year. Mamatha who also was part of the Indian team which won the Asia cup, is presently in a practice session in Delhi and will fly to her hometown a week before her wedding.

It is an arranged marriage and the Kabaddi star is excited about her future life.

Will she continue playing Kabaddi even after marriage ? Her brother Vishwanath Poojari says it is upto her to decide.

Mamatha who hails from a poor family in Hermunde had a difficult childhood, but still could shine in Kabaddi with her tremendous will power. She is an alumnus of Gokarnanatheshwara College in Mangalore.
