Mangalore : The DK Zilla Panchayat, the Horticulture Department, and the Siri Horticultural Association jointly organized a 2-day exhibition of flowers and fruits at Kadri Park on March 9, Saturday.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the exhibition, M Mohan Alva, founder president of Alva’s Education Institution said that this event is being organized to give people a chance to showcase their talents in growing a wide range of flowers and fruits.
He also said that conducting such kind of programmes will create awareness among the people to protect and grow the plants ad not to destroy it.
Alva also said that fruits and flowers existed along with human beings. The first man and women fell in love with each other after eating the fruit.
There are many epics related stories which moves around the flowers and fruits and their importance must reach to everyone, he said. Many poets started their career by describing flowers, he added.
DC N Prakash, inaugurated Madhu Mela and MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar inaugurated vegetable horticulture.
Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, CEO, ZP presided over the event.
Rama Murthy organized a vegetable show which depicted Gandhiji three monkeys and women with musical instruments.
K. Nemiraj Konde, the joint secretary of Siri; N. V. K. Bhatrakodi, the treasurer of Siri, Sharadha Achar, Vijayalakshmi R Rao, Judith Mascarhenas, Shashi V Shetty and others were present.
