Bangalore : Kagodu Timmappa has been elected as new speaker of 14th Legislative assembly of Karnataka State. The 3rd day’s assembly session started at Friday afternoon as Maalikayya Guttedar, Provisional speaker proposed Kagodu Timmappa as nominee for the post of new speaker of the assembly. Kagodu Timmappa has already submitted his nomination for the post of speaker last week. The chief minister Siddaramaih and TB. Jayachandra, legislative affairs minister proposed Kagodu as the speaker of the house. As there is no other nomination for the post of speaker from any political party, the house adopted a unanimous decision of electing Kagodu Timmappa as speaker of the assembly unopposed. All the legislators congratulated him on being elected as speaker of the house.
Mallikayya Guttedar relinquished his post of provisional speaker and handed over his chair to newly elected speaker. The house adjourned sine-die.
