Mangaluru: U T Khader, Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs has urged the central government to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Khader condemned the Kathua rape and murder case and said that it was necessary to make amendments to the Posco Act to prevent such instances from reccuring.
“The incident has brought disgrace to the entire country. I urge the central government to amend the Pocso Act so that no accused gets bail in case of heinous crimes against children.
The act should make the life sentence a minimum punishment for such crimes against children, and the death penalty should be the maximum punishment,” Khader said.
