Mangalore: As forecast and told by Mega media News columns last week, good old Pradeep Kumar Kalkura (an advertiser) has been elected by a clear majority to work for one more term of 3 years, in spite of 11years spent so far in the service of Kannada literature and culture.
He received 464 votes, while his opponent M.S.Anchan secured only 358, and the third candidate Harish Bantwal, managed just 149 votes, even as a journalist.
3 votes were invalid. This victory separates Kalkura from Hari Krishna Punarooru, an ex-KSP President, who had backed M.S. Anchan right from the beginning, by making bad publicity against the winner, Kalkura.
In Udupi N.S. Adiga defeated the more likely candidate Thingale Vikramarjuna by a margin of only 3 votes (198 to 195). Kalkura visited Sri Gopal Krishna Temple to pay his respects to the presiding deity on “Koti Namarchane” final celebrations day (on Sunday April 29) with a Smiling face.
