Mangaluru : The 34th “Sri Krishna Vesha” competition on ‘Shri Krishna Janmashtami’ organised by Kalkura Prathistana at Kadri Shree Manjunatheshwara Temple , here on Sunday, September 2.
Laxmi Narayana Asranna chief priest of Kateel sri Durgaparameshwari Temple inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.
Addressing the gathering Asranna said, programme like Sri Krishna Vesha competitions, the children make active in religious programmes. Here many children along with their parents are here to take part in the Sri Krishna Vesha competitions. It is the real sprit of culture and relegious, he added.
Pradeep Kumar Kalkura president of Kalkura Prathisthana welcomed the gathering and said, “We started the competitions 33 years ago with little responce of participaters. But now people bring their children from other districts and states to take part in the competitions. This year we have 34 categories and have also added Sri Krishna Katha drawing competition. Many people have supported us to organize this programme, he said.

The temple premises was filled up with children wearing colorful costumes like Lord Krishna, accompanied by their enthusiastic parents, making their children pose to photographers who were waiting to capture an expression of cuteness and godliness in them.
In various location with the temple premises, competition were simultaneously held for different age groups, including ‘Kanda Krishna’ for infants. ‘Muddu Krishna’ and ‘Thunta Krishna’, ‘Bala Krishna’, ‘Nanda Gokula’, ‘Sri Krishna’, ‘Geeta Krishna’, ‘Yasha Krishna’ and ‘Radha Krishna’ were others. Lord Krishna idols with certificates, books on the subject, flutes other gifts were given to each participant.
