Mangaluru : The Police have arrested a total of 11 students of Kanachuru educational institution in Konaje police station limits, on the charges of ragging  of first year physiotherapy students in the college.

Those arrested are Abdul Basith, Akshay K S, Jeron Cyril, Ashin Babu, Jabin Mahroof, Mohammad Shammas, Robin Biju, Mohammad Suraj, Abdul Anas Mohammad and Jaffin Roychen. All of them hail from Kerala and are physiotherapy/nursing students.

The accused had ragged five freshers by making them shave their moustaches, cut their hair, measuring classroom with help of match sticks etc.

The aggrieved students had first complained to their college head who in turn informed the police, City Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar said.

He also asked anyone facing harassment to approach his office without any hesitation.
