Udupi: According to a report from Kaniyur Math the loads of offering (Horekanike) have started coming in after the Kaniyur Swamiji had opened a new large store room (Ugrana) on Jan.7 near Rajangana (open auditorium) at the temple premises for the sake of collecting rice, coconuts, vegetables, grains and such other items being supplied by devotees from several villages around Udupi for the New Paryaya Festival on Jan.18 at which the Kanityur Swami Vidyavallabha tirtha will ascend the throne (Peetha) to worship the idol of Kadegolu Krishna.
Doddanagudde, Perampalli, Karamballi and Chakratirtha villagers had arrived via Kalsanka to the temple premises with several cart loads of presentations as offerings to lard Sri Krishna in their loyalty to Ashta Math.
This is the beginning of Horekanike Parva at the Udupi temple. In days to come, the loads of rice bags, fruits, vegetables, grains, coconuts, areca nuts, and the like will increase immensely till the Paryaya season ends after Jan.18.
