Bangalore : The halting of all film activities on one day in Karnataka would result in an approximate loss of Rs.50 crores. The major chunk of loss if from closure of over 800 theatres in Karnataka that includes the multiplex, Malls, Inox etc says the film economic pundits.
It was a peaceful protest from Kannada film industry on Thursday with no untoward incidents. The traffic on the busy Race Course Road was hit by many hours and the Karnataka Police has given the permission to KFI members from morning 11 am to 2 pm.
The protest against the Central government proposal of 10.3 percent Service Tax that largely affects the exhibitor is not yet implemented. In the coming budget of the Central Government the proposal might come up. Well in advance the Film Federation of India has given a call for bundh to protest the Service Tax.
