Mangaluru : The Kannada Development Authority has done a lot of work in the last 30 years for the sovereignty of Kannada in Karnataka. Community participation can make such efforts more effective and fruitful,” commented Kannada Development Authority President Dr. T S Nagabharana.
Inaugurating ‘Kannada Abhivruddhi Pradhikara- 30’, a one-day seminar here at the University College Mangaluru on Monday, he added, “We fear the overuse of technology. Technology should be profitable to the language and limited to gain knowledge.” Principal Dr. Anasuya Rai was happy about the event which was being held at historic Ravindra Kalabhavana, which is around 150 years old.
In his opening remarks, KDA Secretary Dr. Santhosh Hanagalla said that since 1992, the KDA has made many remarkable efforts for the development of the language. To mark this occasion, a set of 19 books on children’s literature will be released soon at Bengaluru. Now the ‘Pada Kanaja’ mobile app has around 6.5 lakh Kannada words. The year 2021 was celebrated as ‘Kannada Kayaka Varsha’, he mentioned a few.
KDA Member Dr. Ramesh Gubbigoodu welcomed the guests and University College Mangaluru Kannada Department Head Dr. Madhava MK mastered the ceremony. As a part of the program, ‘Kannada Sahithya- Kelavu Ola Notagalu’, a book by Dr. Madhava MK was released by Dr. T S Nagabharana.
Four issues were discussed in the seminar, including National Employment Policy – Revised Mahi Report, Language policy of the central government in Civil service examinations, Kannada in Public Sector- Trilingual Sutra, Kannadigas in the Occupational Areas of Future- Possibility Preparedness. R N Chandrashekhar, N M Biradar, Dr. H L Gopalakrishna and Dr. Uday Shankar Puranik presented the subjects.
Chandrashekhar Damle, GN Narasimha Murthy, B H Upendra, Dr. Gananatha Shetty Ekkaru, Kshama Bhanuprakash and others too participated in the interaction. The active involvement of literates and students was notable.
