Mangalore : Three incidents of skirmishes reported from Mangalore as 62% of votes cast in DK District by 4 pm.
As the polling progressed, the report of mounting tension came from three places in Mangalore. In one incident SDPI and Congress party workers exchanged verbal abuses in Angaragundi and Chokkabettu near Surathkal. Another incident reported from Kapitanio near Pumpwell , BJP workers objected to a group of 20 Kerala students suspiciously trying to cast their votes. Students are claiming that they are residents of Mangalore for the last 4 years.
In rest of the constituencies the polling were peaceful. The constituency vise percentage of voting goes like this. Bethangady -65%, Bantwal-71%, Sullia-62%, Puttur-61%, Mangalore North 64%, Mangalore South – 54%, Mangalore-60%, Mudbidri-62%.
