Mangalore: The Karavali group of Colleges, led by Chairmen, S. Ganesh Rao, arranged an affectionate, send off to IGP (Western Range) Gopal B. Husur, IPS on his promotion and transfer to Bangalore (as ACP), at noon an Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Deepa Comforts Hotel near MCC in city. Leaders of all religious and political parties attended the function. The outgoing IGP was presented with mementoes, fruits and flowers and a shawl.
Karavali Colleges chief S. Ganesh Rao, made the opening remarks. A number of special guests invited spoke on the occasion on qualities of head and heart of the police chief leaving DK for Bangalore Prof. T.C. Shiva Shankar Murthy, MU Vice-chancellor presided and expressed his appreciation for the services of G.B. Husur.
Replying to the facilitations, the distinguished IGP who came to DK at a crucial time when communal disharmony raised its ugly head and Naxalites were also on rampage, stated that he knew none in DK then, and he had to seek people’s co-operation to establish peace and communal harmony (about 18 months ago). I received all necessary so-operation from the people of Western Range (in 5 districts), Hosur said.
He told the distinguished audience that he had been wounded in an encounter with forest brigand Veerappan and needed blood. All donors belonged to different faiths and their blood is in my body today, he recalled.
He expressed his gratitude to all persons, organisations, leaders and the govt, for helping him in his most different days on duty. Such a city, I am leaving now in a difficult feeling. But it is inevitable at this juncture, Hosur added.
