Mangalore : The Karavali Jeevanadi Netravathi Rakshana Samithi has submitted a memorandum to chief minister Jagadish Shettar urging him to drop the proposed controversial Netravathi river diversion project.
The delegation told the chief minister said the implementation of the project would hit hard the Western Ghats and its rich bio-diversity while also playing havoc with the lives of the people of the coastal districts. The delegation further said all political parties are united in opposing this project and urged the CM to drop the project.
The delegation was led by Congress leader and former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty. AICC Member PV Mohan, Durgaprasad Rao, Dennis D’silva were also present.
