Karkala : A youth died on the spot in a bike accident near Belman junction on Tuesday, May 28.

The deceased is identified as Sooda resident Dinesh Acharya (36).

It is said, Acharya tried to overtake a bus near Adapaddy, same time a bike which was coming from the opposite direction and as a result fell down from his vehicle. Meanwhile, the bus he was trying to overtake ran over his head.

Acharya died on the spot. The accident impact was such that his head was smashed and was difficult to identify him.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

The biker who was coming from the opposite direction is severely injured. He was admitted to a private hospital in Udupi by Shirva police and is currently undergoing treatment. A case is registered at Karkala Rural Police Station.
