Mangalore: Karnataka Bank, one of the premiere private sector banks has been conferred with “The I.B.A. Banking Technology Awards 2011” instituted by Indian Banks Association. The Bank has been adjudged as the 2nd Runner up under ‘Best Risk Management and Security Initiative and also the 2nd Runner up under “Best Financial Inclusion Initiative” in the category of Private Sector Banks. N.R.Narayana Murthy, Chairman Emeritus, Infosys, conferred the awards to P. Jayarama Bhat, Managing Director and CEO of the Bank at a function held at Mumbai under the auspices of Indian Banks Association on August 27.
As envisaged in the Corporate Mission, Karnataka Bank is Tech savvy and has implemented various tech. driven customer centric products by adopting robust risk mitigation/management processes. At the same time, the Bank has also put in various security measures so as to enhance the confidence of the customers in using tech. products & services. The Bank believes in inclusive growth and 20% of its branches are located in rural centers.
The Bank has taken various initiatives like, financial literacy centers, mobile financial awareness camps through van, providing Banking Services through Business Correspondent Model using Bio-metric cards etc. It is also one of the trustees of the Karnataka Farmers Resource Centre (KFRC), Bagalkot, which has been set up to provide training to the farmers to develop managerial capacity and co-ordinate the services of various service providers for training, consultancy, counseling services to farmers in the state”, said P Jayarama Bhat.
