Mangalore : Karnataka Bank Chairman Anantha Krishna Bhat naugurated Maps India Skills Vocational Learning Centre at Kadri Road near Bunts Hostel on Jan 10, Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that India lacks skilled labourers although it is the second largest populated country.
Stressing on the need to produce more people with higher skills, Mr. Krishna said that psychological research has proved that everybody is equally talented, but the nature of it differs, explaining that every individual is duty-bound to provide proper direction to that nature. Urging students not to get depressed because they have failed their exams, he said that these students should work on fine tuning their talents.
Addressing reporters after the programme, National Head (sales and operation) of India Skills Vivek Shrinivasan briefed about the institution and said that a vocational training initiative from Manipal Education and City & Guilds has signed a deal with prominent retail chains to provide employment to students. The centre offers courses in retail and offers excellent opportunities, he said, adding that students who have passed their SSLC can take up these courses. Maps College Chairman Dinesh Kumar Alva was also present.
