Mangaluru : As many as 60 solar pathway lamps, funded by Karnataka Bank Ltd., were inaugurated at Kadri Park on Tuesday.
P. Jayarama Bhat, the bank’s managing director and CEO, inaugurated the facility in the presence of Mangaluru South MLA J.R. Lobo, the government chief whip in the Legislative Council, Ivan D’Souza, zilla panchayat CEO P.I. Sreevidya, and the bank’s chief general manager, M.S. Mahabaleshwara.
Mr. Bhat said the bank had spent Rs. 18 lakh from its corporate social responsibility fund to erect the lamps.
Saying that it was the responsibility of every citizen to ensure the overall development of society, he said this was the bank’s small contributed towards improving one of the city’s lung spaces. He encouraged the public to use the park facilities properly and also ensure their upkeep.
He also said the bank has always responded to issues such as water conservation, cleanliness, drinking water facilities, etc.
Mr. Lobo and Mr. D’Souza commended Karnataka Bank for its positive attitude towards the development of Mangaluru.
