Bangalore : It’s been a never ending crisis for the state BJP which has been rocked by scams, controversies and then the dissidence which no doubt has jeopardized the administrative machinery, while leaving the party’s image sagging. The Chief Minister’s Chair had never been a bed of roses for Sadananda Gowda who though was handpicked by former CM Yeddyurappa himself, is now having a strained relationship with his predecessor.
Of late, the demand for a change in state leadership by Yeddy loyalists has added to the latest list of crisis in the party. The High command however has remained a silent spectator, though reports suggest that the CM has been reassured by the High Command that he rest assured and go ahead with his works.
No doubt the ever smiling man, none other than CM Sadananda Gowda might be feeling his smile may not last long, though it is for sure that his smile has even helped him win over opposition parties. But alas, that charming smile could not win over the Yeddy loyalists who are hell bent upon dislodging him.
However, another fresh threat came to the CM when the State BJP Chief Eshwarappa too expressed his desire to occupy the CM’s gaddi, provided the high command decides so. Probably there are many more in the BJP who are nurturing the secret desire.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra Pradhan, General Secretary and in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka is expected to arrive and meet the MLAs followed by a visit by senior leader Arun Jaitley. What the high command fears is a major embarrassment in case the dissident MLAs voted for the UPA candidate in the Presidential elections.
No doubt, the high command is in a dilemma. Even if it decides to replace Gowda it will have to face opposition from some leaders including Balachandra Jarakiholi who have already threatened to bring down the government in such an event.
What next ?What will the BJP high command do ? Developments are curiously awaited.
